Forest Biometrics Software
(more detailed information can be found here)
Forest Biometrics supports the Forest Projection and Planning System (FPS)
software for forest inventory, growth projection, silvicultural planning
and long-term harvest scheduling. The FPS software works within Microsoft
Access (Office 97, 2000, XP, 2003) and contains direct linkages to MapInfo
and ArcView geographic information systems. It is fully functional in Windows
98, NT, Me, 2000, XP and 2003. The current version is 6.51 released May
20, 2006. FPS is installed in over 140 forestry offices in the West. This
version has incorporated additional cash flow economics, non-tree vegetation,
cruise statistics, and certified regional species libraries. The Regional
Species Library now is in a database architecture for local calibration
of individual tree farms, reservations and regions.
FPS Version 6.50 was
distributed to FBRI members in March 2006. The 6.51 update on this website
provides additional defaults for reporting options (acres net-of-roads,
acres net-of-riparian, acres in riparian zones only), a correction for
variable top diameter merchandising, and a correction for handling non-tree
vegetation growth in the Species Libraries.
