Software Upgrades
Current Release: FPS Version 6.60
These updates may be downloaded by anyone, but will only work on your local
computer if FPS was pre-installed from an FPS Version 6.60 CD-ROM. Do not
mix these downloads with previous versions of FPS because these will overwrite
those older components rendering them non-functional.

Version upgrade 6.70 beta(updated Sept. 24,
2007)
This is a limited beta release of the FPS software package. It is not a recommended
download unless one needs one of the enhancements or bug fixes. These updates include:
- Enhancement to the harvest scheduler to allow "hardwiring" stands for harvest in any period. Not just the first.
- Correct cruise compiler occasionally writing out the incorrect Site Species on designated site trees.
- Enhancement that allows topwood to be merchandized separately from saw log volume.
- Software now functions with the 10-meter site methodology
All updates in this
beta release will be incorporated in the next major release due out in November of 2008.

Version upgrade 6.62(updated Sept. 24,
2007)
This update includes minor changes and bug fixes to the cruise compiler, growth
model, Harvest Scheduler, Silvicultural regime builder, Stand Visualization utility
and database integrity checker. Please refer to the section below for full details
of this update. (This is a recommended download)

Cruise Compiler
- Treatment of field taper measurements: If you have
a field measurement of taper, then it will be used in the Cruise Compiler.
If field measurement is blank, then the FBRI Library is the default unless
the same species has other field taper measurements in a taper/dbh regression.
Taper is never defaulted to another species in the same cruise. Height,
Age, and Crown ratio will default to other sampled species in the cruise.
Field taper measurements are accepted from 5% to 55% of tree height.
As a rule of thumb field taper measurements should be between 10%-50%
of tree height.
- Site Trees: The Cruise Compiler was not displaying the
correct species in the Admin table, Site_Spp column when the Reference
species was not Douglas-fir. The only case where this occurs is in the
Arcata FBRI Library where Redwood is the Reference species for physical
site index. It is now corrected in this update. When using designated
site trees (Status code = 8) in Plots table, the Cruise Compiler always
returns the Reference species site index and species in the Admin table
Site_Ind and Site_Spp columns. This is not new, just a verification of
methods. The designated site trees may include more than one species,
therefore the conversion to reference species for application.
Growth Model
- Corrected a problem in version 6.61 where silvicultural costs were
not being calculated and recorded correctly. This affected NPV, IRR and
SEV calculations.
- A bug in version 6.60 was preventing age based silvicultural treatments
from being invoked during growth for forest planning. This is now corrected
in the update.
Database Integrity Checker
The database integrity checker was failing to add several columns
used for biomass calculations to the YEILD table. It now detects these
columns and adds them if needed
